December 01, 2009 - "Adopt a Family" for December Collection

There are many stories of families in need this year.  We've been told of a family here in Green County that we can help.  The family is made up of a mom, dad and 5 year old boy.  The mother is having a baby in December.  And 5 days after the due date of the child, the bank is foreclosing on the farm the family lives on.  Christmas will be very bleak for this family.  The family was asked what their needs are; the basic baby necessities would be appreciated (socks, onesies, sleepers, Dreft laundry detergent, etc.)  The mother will be using cloth diapers in order to save money, so these would be appreciated as well. 

They are also in need of snow pants, a winter jacket and boots for the 5 year old.  They have asked for no toys; however, educational puzzles (under 100 pieces), games, etc. would be welcomed, as would winter outdoor games.   When asked what the mother would like for herself, she said a real Christmas Tree for her son, and to make cookies with friends to share in the spirit of the holiday.  Generously others have stepped up to provide a Christmas Tree and cookie-making time.
